The Murrurundi District Arts Council invites photographers to submit works in competition for the 2009 Murrurundi Keddies Pastoral Photographic Prize to be awarded to the most outstanding black and white photographic work as determined by the final judge.

Entrants to the prize are asked to interpret this year's theme – WATER, with a focus on the significance of water in the natural environment. All entries will be assessed by a selection panel comprising credible individuals in the field of photography. The selection of images will be done anonymously based on the quality of the photograph

2. The Local Section is open to all Australian residents in the following shires: Upper Hunter Shire, Muswellbrook Shire, and Liverpool Plains Shire.

4. Exhibited photographs must be black and white. The overall size, including the border (if any) must be A3 (42x30cm). All works will be pinned on the wall and must be unframed.
Works that do not meet these conditions will not be accepted for the exhibition.

5. Photographs are to be posted to Murrurundi District Arts Council Inc to PO Box 87, Murrurundi, NSW, 2338 or delivered (personally or by agent) to Upstairs Art corner of Adelaide St. and the New England Highway, Murrurundi, free of all freight charges between Saturday September 5th to Wednesday September 9th 2009, between 10am to 5pm.
Return freight (if applicable) to be included with the works.

5. Entries will be considered from a digital image. Submitted images should comply with the following:
a. Image saved in JPG format.
b. File name should be in the following format: name of photographer­_title of work.JPG  
(ex: John Smith_waterways.JPG)
c. resized to maximum of 2000 pixels on the longest side (72dpi).

6. Each work to be clearly marked on the back with name, title, address, date of work and price (if for sale). 6. Each CD should be clearly labeled with a permanent marker pen with the name of the artist, title(s), and date of work(s). CD, entry form and payment (for each photograph) must arrive by Friday June 26th 2009 at the Murrurundi District Arts Council Inc.  PO Box 87, Murrurundi, NSW, 2338.
7. Photographs to be exhibited will be selected by a panel of 3 judges. A judge independent of the selectors will choose the winning work. The decision of the judges is final. No correspondence or communication will be entered into regarding the judges' decision.

8. Successful applicants will be advised by telephone or email immediately selections are made. Shortlist of finalists will be posted on the web-site on Friday September 18th 2009. Nobody will be notified by post.  Unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted

9. Work awarded the prize will be purchased at the nominated award amount. All other works sold will attract a 25% commission as fundraising for the Murrurundi Art Council.

11. Entry fee of $15 for each photograph submitted is non-refundable. Any entry not accompanied by an entry form and adequate payment will not be eligible for the competition and/or exhibition.

12. Cheques/money orders to be payable to the Murrurundi District Arts Council Inc. The entry fee is GST inclusive and is not refundable.

13. Entries must be adequately packed to facilitate safe return. After the close of the exhibition works must be collected by the artist or their agent by no later than 5.00pm Friday 18 October 2009. Unless arrangements have been made, the Council will dispose of works unclaimed by 30th November 2009 at their convenience.

14. The Council reserves the right to reproduce the works in print and electronic media to advertise the Prize whilst in custody of the Council.
